Iraklis Thessalonikis is leading the championship after the fourth round
games. Panathinaikos who did not succeed to win in Lamia is having big
problems.
On Monday game Olympiakos was the big winner beating 1-3 (21-25, 21-25,
25-19, 22-25) Finikas Syrou at the first derby of the season. For the
previous year’s champions Marek Novotny scored 23 and Andres Roland
Himenez 20 points. Also Giorgos Petreas were very effective with 5
blocks.
The same day EAPatron took an early lead in
the battle for survival after downing Aris 2-3 in Thessaloniki (25-19,
25-21, 16-25, 21-25, 11-15). Aris team had already lost three times in
tie break in Thessaloniki. EAPatron led by Anastasios Aspiotis and
Andrew Pink for a second match in a row.
On Sunday game PAOK easily won 3-0 (25-17,
25-20, 25-22) over Kalamaria with the diagonal Apostolos Armenakis
scoring 18 points. This was the second win for PAOK this season.
Lamia won 3-1 (25-15, 19-25, 28-26, 25-20)
over Panathinaikos on Saturday. Petar Curovic and Xatziiliadis were the
stars of the local team. Panathinaikos showed that those who said the
Greens will struggle to stay up may have been right.
The tightest of all games was that between
Pamvohaikos and Kifisia, which ended 3-2 in the Peloponnesian's favour
(20-25, 25-15, 25-18, 24-26, 15-7).
Iraklis is leading the championship after
his fifth win in a row. Playing smart in Thessaloniki did not found
difficulties to win 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-16) over Ethnikos
Alexandroupolis. Kostas Xristofidelis and Giorgos Tzioumakas had both
scored 14 points for home team.
