The eighth women’s and seventh men’s
events on the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour and third of
six double gender Grand Slams were played this past week at the
$600,000 1 to 1 Energy Grand Slam in Gstaad, Switzerland. In the women’s
competition, Juliana Felisberta Silva/Larissa Franca of Brazil won
their fourth event of 2011 and their women’s team career best 40th FIVB
Swatch World Tour gold medal together. It was Larissa’s women’s career
best 41st victory and Juliana’s 40th, tying her for 2nd all-time. On
the men’s side, Brazil’s Alison Cerutti/Emanuel Rego also won their
fourth gold in 2011and fourth together. It was Emanuel’s career best
73rd FIVB Swatch World Tour victory and the 10th for Alison.
