Impressive 3:0 victory for Spain against Bulgaria

2009 European League - Women

Gabrovo, Bulgaria, May 23, 2009. In the first match of Pool A, Spain defeated Bulgaria 3:0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-20) at the Orlovets hall in Gabrovo. The visiting team impressed with a dazzling performance in defense, a show that seemed very frustrating for the the Bulgarians. The hosts could not find a weapon to overcome the Spanish team, despite the enthusiastic support of the local cheering spectators.


The beginning of the match was very encouraging for Bulgaria as they were up to 15:11 in the first set right before 7 points in a row for Spain turned the advantage over to them for the provisional 15:18. Bulgaria came back for 19:18, but Gido Vermeulen’s players were more persistent and managed to close the set in their favor. In the second set, the visiting team was the absolute ruler of the court: 0:5, 1:8, 4:14, 9:16… Bulgaria tried to fight back only to narrow the gap up to 5 points at the end of the set.
The third part was more straight-forward for the Spaniards and they achieved a convincing victory in their first ever match for the European League. Spanish Elena Garcia was the match top scorer of the match with 19 points. Bulgarian opposite Elena koleva scored 14 points.

Αναχωρεί για την Πορτογαλία η Εθνική ανδρών

Με τελικό προορισμό την Πορτογαλία και ενδιάμεσο σταθμό τη Ρώμη, αναχωρεί το πρωί (09.00) της Δευτέρας (25/05) η Εθνική ομάδα ανδρών, προκειμένου να συμμετάσχει στην α΄ προκριματική φάση του Παγκοσμίου Πρωταθλήματος, που διεξάγεται στην πόλη Πόβοα ντε Βαρζίμ.

Serbia delights massive home audience in Subotica

Subotica, Serbia, May 23, 2009. Serbia defeated Greece in the first match the girls of coach Terzic entered for the first edition ever of the Women’s European League. The Serbians sailed to their first victory in three straight sets (25-21, 25-14, 25-15), in 69 minutes in front of 2’450 spectators. The city of Subotica warmly welcomed the chance to organize the first matches of the Women’s European League with a massive audience gathering in the local competition hall.


The match started with the intense support of the local fans for the Serbian team and some points scored with Ognjenovic in the serving area. Fearing that the match could go wrongly, Greek coach Lykoudis asked for a break that immediately secured the next ally for the Greeks, but the Serbian team continued scoring putting up a strong block and a very heavy attack. Chatzinikolaou succeeded in cooking up a point after which Chantava scored an ace. After the technical time-out, Greece resumed back to score 2 points in a row, so Terzic called for another break. In an attempt to improve their performance, the Greeks made several errors but put up a great fight in defending their turf to level at 11. With a block on the net they took the lead and Terzic had to make some substitutions, as Greece continued scoring points through errors of the Serbian team. An ace and a service error of young Petrovic brought the hosts back to 14:16 and to the second technical time-out. Being now much more focused on the match, the Serbian girls equaled the score and took the lead. It was Christou and Kalantzieva that scored to equal again for Greece. It seemed that the Serbian team finally found their block functioning perfectly on the net, aware of witty attacks of the Greek team.
The second set started with a point for the Serbian girls, but Chatzinikolaou immediately replied strongly. Kiosi found a weak spot in the Serbian defense and after a long rally the block of Nikolic and Veljkovic decided for the score to be evened again. The excellent attacks of the Serbian team forced Lykoudis to request a time-out. Some pretty points created standings ovations in the hall and the Serbian girls just went on to 11:7. Krsmanovic was excellent both with her blocks and in spiking. At 13:8, Lykoudis had to take a second time-out. More aces, some errors of the Greeks and a good game of the Serbian and the result moved up to 16:10. Veljkovic scored point nr. 17 and with Nikolic on the service, more points poured. Christou scored and then followed excellent blocks for Krsmanovic and Majstorovic. At 24:14, Majstorovic gave the final touch to score the 25:14 and finish the set in 21 minutes.
The third set started with 4 consecutive points in favor of the Greeks, after that Nikolic showed her strength and the score was quickly leveled. Both teams made several errors in their effort to turn the match to their side. Both teams were striving for their best; with the excellent blocks of Krsmanovic and Bursac Serbia moved the score up to 19:14, Lykoudis called for a second time-out, clearly annoyed by the lack of concentration of his players, but the match was quickly over with the final touch of Majstorovic.
Greece’s captain Maria Chatzinikolaou said after the match: “I will start first of all with expressions of gratitude for the extraordinary hospitality we are experiencing here in Subotica. Everything was organized in a great way, with an excellent hotel, a splendid hall and all the people who have done everything for our comfortable stay here. As for the game, I must say that we made a lot of mistakes. We are building up a new team and we do need a lot to adapt to each other. We know that the Serbian team is also very young but they have excellent new talents that everyone could see. We will try tomorrow to play better and then maybe win”.
Jelena Nikolic, Serbia’s captain, stated: “I will join Maria in her praise for the organization. We never expected that the atmosphere in Subotica could have been so great. I couldn’t stop turning around to see the spectators in the hall. The atmosphere was great. Yes, we are a new team and for many girls that was their first match and I am sure that that was the reason why we played the first set in that way. It was great, but we must improve in order to win tomorrow. The Greek team that didn’t show all they can today and will certainly do their best and try to win the second match tomorrow”.
George Lykoudis, head coach of the Greek team, said: “We definitely knew that Serbia is strong and one of the best teams in the world, having the chance to fill up very quickly also the empty places deriving from injured players. We came from another tournament and did anything as we had planned to do. Our reception was bad, our attack too, we made a lot of errors and there was no way to continue with the game. It is for us very difficult to make up a new team with new players, but we have to go on, continue with all we do and try it out. I congratulate the team of Serbia and thank the local organizers for their hospitality”.
Local coach Zoran Terzic concluded: “If Jelena and Maria were surprised so was I even though we counted on the support of everyone from the city of Subotica, but the people who filled up the stands really filled our hearts too. We are really overjoyed and will remember this match for a long time. If we have the same audience, who knows what we can do in spite of all the injuries and problems we face. We experienced some weaknesses in the first set, mostly due to pressure the girls felt but I am quite happy with the match. We will try to do more and raise the level for tomorrow”.
The best scorer in the Serbian team and the whole match was Jelena Nikolic with 14 points. Majstorovic with 13 and Bursac with 10 also contributed to the final victory with an impressive performance. The best scorers for Greece were Chatzinikolaou with 11 and Kalaintzieva with 7 points.
The second match of the first week-end for Pool A of the 2009 European League will be played tomorrow in the Hall of Sports in Subotica at 6 pm.
Stefana Veljkovic, blocker of the Serbian team, announced for tomorrow: “We were quite confused today and fearful of playing in front of our audience. This was our first match after quite some time and we hope to play much better tomorrow”.
Her teammate Sanja Bursac added: “What can I say but that we are happy that we won, although we started with some confusion as it is our first match all together. We will play at our maximum tomorrow and I expect that we will play better and try to win the match again”.
Greek opposite Kiosi concluded: “I definitely hope that we will play much better. We are quite tired after the matches we played the last week for the World Championships. We have to rest and prepare for the next match and try to show that we can do much more than what we did today”.

BEACH VOLLEY - Πέμπτες στην Οσάκα οι Αρβανίτη/Τσιαρτσιάνη

Σε ολλανδικό εμπόδιο «σκάλωσαν» οι Βίκυ Αρβανίτη και Μαρία Τσιαρτσιάνη με συνέπεια να μην καταφέρουν να προκριθούν στα ημιτελικά του τουρνουά του Παγκοσμίου Σιρκουί στην Οσάκα. Το ελληνικό δίδυμο ηττήθηκε από τις Ολλανδέζες Βαν Ιέρσελ – Κάιζερ με 2-0 (21-19, 21-12) σε 32 λεπτά και κατέλαβε την 5η θέση.

ΕΥΡΩΠΑΪΚΟ ΛΙΓΚ ΓΥΝΑΙΚΩΝ: Πρεμιέρα της Εθνικής με Σερβία

Με μικρή ταλαιπωρία ξεκίνησε το ταξίδι της Εθνικής γυναικών για την Σουμπότιτσα, όπου το Σαββατοκύριακο θα δώσει τους πρώτους της αγώνες για το Ευρωπαϊκό Λιγκ. Το αντιπροσωπευτικό συγκρότημα αναχώρησε με δύο ώρες καθυστέρηση για το Βελιγράδι, από όπου μετέβη οδικώς στην πόλη που θα φιλοξενηθεί το τουρνουά. Ετσι αναβλήθηκε η αποψινή προπόνηση, η οποία θα γίνει αύριο το πρωί, μερικές ώρες πριν από το πρώτο παιχνίδι με την Σερβία (19:00).
«Το Ευρωπαϊκό Λιγκ είναι ένας νέος θεσμός για το γυναικείο βόλεϊ. Σε αυτή τη σημαντική διοργάνωση θα προσπαθήσουμε να εμφανίσουμε νέα πρόσωπα στην ομάδα και στόχος μας είναι να πραγματοποιήσουμε όσο το δυνατόν καλύτερες εμφανίσεις», δήλωσε ο ομοσπονδιακός τεχνικός, Γιώργος Λυκούδης.

BEACH VOLLEY - Συνεχίζουν για 4άδα Αρβανίτη/Τσιαρτσιάνη

Ηττήθηκαν αλλά θα συνεχίσουν τις προσπάθειές τους, έστω από το ταμπλό των ηττημένων, στο παγκόσμιο σιρκουί της Οζάκα οι Βίκυ Αρβανίτη και Μαρία Τσιαρτσιάνη.

Στο πλαίσιο των αγώνων της δεύτερης ημέρας στη διοργάνωση της Ιαπωνίας, το ελληνικό δίδυμο ξεκίνησε το πρωί επιτυγχάνοντας την τρίτη κατά σειρά νίκη του, επί των Αυστριακών Μοντανιόλι/Χάνσελ με 2-0 σετ (22-20, 21-17).

Στον δ΄ γύρο, όμως, ηττήθηκαν από τις Ακερς/Τέρνερ (ΗΠΑ) με 0-2 (17-21, 14-21) και, πλέον, θα συνεχίσουν από το ταμπλό των ηττημένων. Μάλιστα, οι Αρβανίτη/Τσιαρτσιάνη θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να προκριθούν ακόμη και στα ημιτελικά, αν νικήσουν στο σαββατιάτικο πρωινό παιχνίδι τους (08:00). Αντίθετα, αν ηττηθούν θα καταλάβουν την 5η θέση.

BEACH VOLLEY - NEA NIKH

Στον 4ο γύρο του 3ου τουρνουά για το World Tour, που διεξάγεται στην Οζάκα της Ιαπωνίας, προκρίθηκαν οι Βίκυ Αρβανίτη και Μαρία Τσιαρτσιάνη.

Το ελληνικό δίδυμο (Νο 14 του ταμπλό) πέτυχε την τρίτη του νίκη σε ισάριθμα παιχνίδια, επικρατώντας με 2-0 σετ (22-20, 21-17) των Αυστριακών Μοντανιόλι/Χάνσελ (Νο 27) σε 46' και πήρε το εισιτήριο για τον 4ο γύρο της διοργάνωσης, που αυτομάτως τοποθετεί τις Ελληνίδες στην πρώτη πεντάδα του τουρνουά.

Ο επόμενος αγώνας (9:00 ώρα Ελλάδος) για το νέο υποσχόμενο ζευγάρι στο χώρο του μπιτς βόλεϊ θα είναι κόντρα στις Αμερικανίδες Άκερς/Τέρνερ (Νο 26), που έκαναν την έκπληξη, νικώντας με 2-1 σετ (13-21, 22-20, 15-10) τις Μαρία Κλάρα/Κάρολ από τη Βραζιλία (Νο 2).

H ΣΥΝΕΝΤΕΥΞΗ ΤΥΠΟΥ ΤΟΥ ΦΡΕΝΤΙ ΜΠΡΟΥΚΣ

Την απόφαση του να εγκαταλείψει την ενεργό δράση, και να συνεχίσει την καριέρα του στον Ηρακλή από άλλο πόστο ανακοίνωσε το μεσημέρι σε συνέντευξη τύπου που πραγματοποιήθηκε στην αίθουσα τροπαίων του Γ. Σ Ηρακλής, Μετά από 10 χρόνια πετυχημένης καριέρας ως αθλητής στον Ηρακλή αποφάσισε να κλείσει αυτό το κεφάλαιο, ανοίγοντας παράλληλα ένα άλλο. Αυτό του προπονητή, καθώς από σήμερα αναλαμβάνει βοηθός προπονητή στην ομάδα του «Γηραιού». Θα καθίσει στον πάγκο δίπλα στον Χάρι Μπρόκινγκ, βάζοντας παράλληλα υψηλούς στόχους τόσο για τον ίδιο, όσο και για τον Ηρακλή. Τον Γ.Σ Ηρακλή στη συνέντευξη τύπου εκπροσώπησαν οι κ.κ Αδαμίδης, Μανωλόπουλος, Γωγάκος.

Πρώτος τον λόγο πήρε το επίτιμο πρόσωπο ο Φρέντι Μπρουκς ο οποίος αφού ευχαρίστησε τους δημοσιογράφους για την παρουσία τους τόνισε: «Ο λόγος της σημερινής συνέντευξης είναι ότι αποφάσισα να σταματήσω την ενεργό δράση και να συνεχίσω να προσφέρω στον Ηρακλή από άλλο πόστο. Αυτό του προπονητή.

Όλα αυτά τα χρόνια πέρασα πολύ καλά και έχω να θυμάμαι μόνο καλές στιγμές. Να ευχαριστήσω όλους τους προπονητές, αλλά και τους συναθλητές μου. Μόνο καλά λόγια έχω να πω. Καταρχήν ευχαριστώ την Εθνική ομάδα της Κούβας που έδωσε την ευκαιρία να καταξιωθώ και να μάθω όσο έμαθα. Θέλω να ευχαριστήσω τον ΗΡΑΚΛΗ που με έφερε στην Ελλάδα το 1995 όπου και είχα την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσω τόσο καλούς ανθρώπους. Ανάμεσα σε αυτούς και τη γυναίκα μου Κωνσταντίνα Λαμπράκη που μου χάρισε δύο αγγελούδια την Αγάπη και τον Χουάν.

Επίσης θέλω να ευχαριστήσω όλους τους προπονητής με τους οποίους συνεργάστηκα τον Κώστα Χαριτωνίδη , τον Γιώργο Λυκούδη, τον Κώστα Αρσενιάδη, τον Άντερς Κρίστιανσον, τον Φλάβιο Γκουλινέλι και τον Αλέκο Λεώνη με τον οποίον είχα μία πολυετή συνεργασία στον Ηρακλή.

Θα ήθελα να ευχαριστήσω τον κόσμο και τη διοίκηση του Ηρακλή για την άψογη συνεργασία τους. Τον κόσμο που μου έδινε δύναμη σε όλα τα παιχνίδια και κυρίως τη Χάιδω που με τη φωνή της που μου έδινε κουράγιο να συνεχίσω.

να ξεκινήσω μία καινούρια καριέρα. Θα δώσω τον καλύτερο μου εαυτό, και θα παλέψω για να έχω και στη νέα μου δουλειά τα ίδια αποτελέσματα που είχα και ως αθλητής.

Σίγουρα η πρώτη χρονιά θα είναι δύσκολη για μένα γιατί δεν είναι εύκολο από αθλητής να γίνεσαι προπονητής. Είναι κάτι διαφορετικό. Πιστεύω όμως με τη βοήθεια της διοίκησης, του προπονητή, των συμπαικτών μου αλλά και των οπαδών, ότι μπορώ να τα καταφέρω. Για μένα είναι πολύ μεγάλη υπόθεση να σταθώ στο πλευρό του νέου προπονητή. Είμαι σίγουρος ότι φέτος θα καταφέρουμε πολλά. Μετά από 10 χρόνια προσφοράς κλείνει για μένα το κεφάλαιο αθλητής και ξεκινάει το κεφάλαιο προπονητής. Είναι μεγάλη πρόκληση για μένα. Πιστεύω ότι μπορώ να τα καταφέρω».

Όλα αυτά τα χρόνια πάντως έχει να θυμάται καλές και κακές στιγμές. «Καλύτερη στιγμή με τον Ηρακλή ήταν ο πρώτος τελικός του Τσάμπιονς Λιγκ. Αυτό που έζησα τότε θα μου μείνει αξέχαστο. Η ατμόσφαιρα που δημιούργησαν οι οπαδοί μας , ο ενθουσιασμός που υπήρχε, οι φιλίες που δημιουργήθηκαν έμεινα ανεξίτηλα στη θύμηση μου. Δεν τα καταφέραμε τότε αλλά θα μου μείνει αξέχαστο. Όλοι οι αθλητές έχουν πονέσει και κάποιες φορές. Νομίζω ότι φέτος πόνεσα περισσότερο όταν χάσαμε στον τελικό από την Τρεντίνο. Και αυτό γιατί αν και γνωρίζαμε πόσο δύσκολο ήταν, βαθιά μέσα μας πιστεύαμε ότι μπορούμε να κερδίσουμε. Ανάλογα είναι και τα συναισθήματα του για το φετινό αποκλεισμό από τον τελικό του πρωταθλήματος όπου μπορούσαμε να κερδίσουμε κάποιες ομάδες αλλά δεν τα καταφέραμε».

Κλείνοντας ο Φρέντι Μπρουκς τόνισε: «Αυτή η στιγμή είναι κάτι που περίμενα. Είμαι έτοιμος ψυχολογικά να δώσω και να διδάξω όλα αυτά που έμαθα τόσα χρόνια, και να βοηθήσω και τα νέα παιδιά του Ηρακλή. Θέλει προσπάθεια και δουλειά. Θα αγωνιστώ για να καταφέρω».

Τη διοίκηση του Γ.Σ Ηρακλής εκπροσώπησαν οι κ.κ Αδαμίδης , Μανωλόπουλος. Από την πλευρά του, ο αντιπρόεδρος του ΓΣ Ηρακλής, Τάσος Αδαμίδης επισήμανε: «Είναι μια συγκινητική μέρα για μένα προσωπικά που βρίσκομαι σε αυτή τη θέση. Μετά από 10 χρόνια προσφοράς ο Μπρουκς αλλάζει πόστο. Κλείνει το αγωνιστικό κομμάτι και ανοίγει ένα άλλο κομμάτι το οποίο πιστεύω ότι θα υπηρετήσει με την ανάλογη επιτυχία. Θα συνεχίσει να προσφέρει στην ομάδα μας και είμαι βέβαιος ότι στο τέλος θα τα καταφέρει. Με αυτό τον τρόπο δείχνουμε ότι ο Ηρακλής είναι μια ομάδα που τιμά τα παιδιά της και τα στηρίζει με κάθε τρόπο. Θέλουμε ο Φρέντι να μείνει κοντά μας. Τον πιστεύουμε και ελπίζουμε να είναι ο μελλοντικός προπονητής του Ηρακλή. Ο Φρέντι ξέρει βόλεϊ και θα βοηθήσει τα μέγιστα. Φρέντι θα είμαστε κοντά σου», είπε κλείνοντας ο κ.Αδαμίδης.

Τέλος το μέλος του ΤΑΠ, Γιώργος Μανωλόπουλος αναφερόμενος στο Φρέντι Μπρουκς τόνισε: «Οφείλουμε εμείς σαν Ηρακλής να τον ευχαριστήσουμε. Είναι από τους αθλητές που δίδαξαν βόλεϊ. Αν κάποιος γνωρίζει από το βόλεϊ τότε καταλαβαίνει ότι έχει να κάνει με ένα από τους καλύτερους αθλητές του κόσμου. Εύχομαι να συνεχίσει να προσφέρει στο νέο του πόστο».

Γνωρίζω τον Φρέντι από την πρώτη ημέρα που ήρθε στην Ελλάδα. Ίσως θα έπρεπε και η ΕΟΠΕ να τον ευχαριστήσει για την πολυετή του προσφορά στο ελληνικό βόλει. Ίσως δεν έχουν καταλάβει το μέγεθος αυτού του αθλητή γιατί ίσως αδικήθηκε από το καθεστώς που υπήρξε στη Κούβα που άφησε τους αθλητές της να βγουν εκτός συνόρων Δεν γνωρίζουμε πολλά από το ξεκίνημα της καριέρα του αλλά γνωρίζουμε περισσότερα για το τελείωμα.

Θυμάμαι την πρώτη φορά που ήρθε στην Ελλάδα υπήρξε πρόβλημα με το πενταπλού του , το οποίο ήρθε μία ημέρα πριν αρχίσει το πρωτάθλημα. Θυμάμαι που τραυματίστηκε στα πλέι οφ και μαζί του τραυματίστηκε και όλος ο Ηρακλής.

Για όσους θυμούνται ο Μπρουκς έμεινε ένα χρόνο έξω και έκανε προπονήσεις στα τμήματα υποδομών του Ηρακλή. Του εύχομαι από εδώ και πέρα να μπορέσει να προσφέρει όσα γνωρίζει , γιατί μέχρι να έρθει ο Φρέντι στην Ελλάδα δεν γνωρίζαμε πόσα πλασέ υπάρχουν στο ελληνικό βόλεϊ . Θέλουμε να έχει τη δύναμη να μάθει όσα γνωρίζει και στα παιδιά του Ηρακλή. Καλή επιτυχία Φρέντι»

Το Σάββατο 17 Οκτωβρίου η έναρξη του πρωταθλήματος της Α2 ανδρών

Παρουσία του προέδρου της ΕΟΠΕ, Στέλιου Προσαλίκα, του γενικού γραμματέα, Αγγέλου Κυριακίδη και του επικεφαλής της Κεντρικής Επιτροπής Πρωταθλημάτων (ΚΕΠ), Γιώργου Κογκαλίδη, έγινε την Πέμπτη, στην έδρα της ΕΟΠΕ, η συγκέντρωση των εκπρόσωπων των σωματείων της Α2 ανδρών. Θέματα της συνάντησης ήταν ο απολογισμός της σεζόν που ολοκληρώθηκε και οι προτάσεις για τη διεξαγωγή του νέου πρωταθλήματος. Στη συνάντηση, από την οποία απουσίασαν οι εκπρόσωποι του Εθνικού Αλεξανδρούπολης, της ΓΕ Μεσσηνίας, της ΜΑΣ Νίκη Αιγινίου και του Επίκουρου, όμως, ο σύλλογος της Θεσσαλονίκης κατέθεσε με υπόμνημα τις προτάσεις του, αποφασίστηκαν τα εξής:

· Το νέο πρωτάθλημα να αρχίσει το Σάββατο 17 Οκτωβρίου.
· Τα πλέι οφ και τα πλέι άουτ του πρωταθλήματος να ορίζονται τις ημέρες Σάββατο, Τετάρτη, Σάββατο.
· Να ισχύσει κοινός τρόπος διεξαγωγής των πλέι άουτ σε όλες κατηγορίες του αθλήματος, δηλαδή να υποβιβάζεται απευθείας ο τελευταίος της τελικής κατάταξης της κανονικής περιόδου. Και οι υπόλοιποι τρεις θα παίζουν σε διπλούς αγώνες, μεταφέροντας τη βαθμολογία της κανονικής περιόδου. Σύστημα, δηλαδή, που ισχύει στην Α1 ανδρών και θα ισχύσει τη νέα σεζόν και στην Α1 γυναικών.
Οι εκπρόσωποι των σωματείων της Α2 ανδρών πήραν θέση και για το θέμα του ξένου. Μετά από ψηφοφορία, στην οποία πήραν μέρος εννέα εκπρόσωποι, οι επτά τάχθηκαν υπέρ της κατάργησης του αλλοδαπού παίκτη. Υπέρ της διατήρησης του ενός ξένου ψήφισαν ο Μίλωνας και ο ΣΠΑ Καρδίτσας. Η πρόταση που υπερίσχυσε στην ψηφοφορία, θα τεθεί στο ΔΣ της ΕΟΠΕ που θα γίνει στις 29 Μαΐου για επικύρωση.
Αποφασίστηκε να γίνει μία ακόμη συνάντηση των εκπρόσωπων της Α2 ανδρών, ένα μήνα πριν την έναρξη του πρωταθλήματος, για να διευθετηθούν οι τελικές ρυθμίσεις.
