Olympiakos stays unbeaten in Greek Volleyleague

Olympiakos easily won 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-22) over PAOK in the last game of Volleyleague on Sunday evening. Olympiakos as we had predicted from the beginning of the Championship stays unbeaten proving that is the best team for this season.  The Bulgarian left handed diagonal Boyan Yordanov was again unstoppable scoring 16 points.

Pamvohaikos continue climbing in the standings reaching Aris in the second place by winning 1-3 (25-19, 20-25, 17-25, 23-25) the home team of Foinikas Syrou. This is the 7^th win in a row for Vrahati team and the first win ever against Foinikas. Leonardo Caldeira scoring 16 and Zoran Jovanovic scoring 20 points were the leaders of Vrahati’s team. We have to congratulate Foinikas coach Christos Patras for his statement that one of the referees had made some mistakes during the game but not so crucial to affect the final result.

Iraklis Thessalonikis won the local derby against Aris in the tie-break section (2-3: 25-20, 24-26, 25-16, 23-25, 6-15). The previous year’s Champions had the young players like Giorgos Tzioumakas (25p.), Chrisostomos Koltsiakis (10p.) and Dimitris Efremidis (16p.) in a great day and celebrate a great win. Andreas Kravaric Iraklis coach had stated after the derby of Thessaloniki that “… Aris players helped us a lot by their ineffectiveness during the game” … and close his statement expressing the feeling that now “everybody is happy”.

Ethnikos won 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 23-25, 25-23) the team of Kifisia in Alexandroupoli. For the local team Ivan Raic scored 24, Rafael Koumantakis 16 and Anestis Dalakouras 11 points.

Niki Aiginiou lost the chance to get a clear win and the 3 points in the game against Panathinaikos. Playing in the tie-break section finally won 3-2 (25-27, 24-26, 27-25, 25-23, 15-13) having Spencer McLachlin (21p.) and Ventsislav Georgiev (22p.) in a great day.

With the same score 3-2 (27-25, 16-25, 27-25, 25-27, 15-11) Milonas dropped a point to Lamia in Athens. Churi Zapata Julian Andres (22p.) and Kostas Karanikolaou (15p.) were the stars of Milonas team.
