Marte Hoffiz explains new FIVB policy to President of Trinidad & Tobago

NORCECA President and FIVB First Executive Vice President Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz was a special guest at a reception hosted by the President of Trinidad & Tobago, His Excellency Max Richards, in honor of the National Olympic Committee of his country.

Marte Hoffiz took the opportunity to explain to President Richards about the new direction in FIVB policy and the aspiration of FIVB President Jizhong Wei of supporting the elite sport with the synergistic development of Volleyball in emerging countries.

"The president praised the measures adopted by the FIVB, considering them to be beneficial for most of the countries in the NORCECA region, especially for those in the Caribbean islands," Marte Hoffiz said.

Marte Hoffiz was in Trinidad & Tobago for the two second-round tournaments of the 2010 FIVB World Championships. President Richards honored recently elected Olympic authorities from the islands with a reception at the Presidential House.

President Richards, accompanied by the First Lady Ms. Jean Ramjohn-Richards, said he is grateful of the assistance that NORCECA is providing to the organization of the Caribbean Games to be held here through July 13-19, and includes Volleyball and Beach Volleyball competitions under the confederation's supervision.

"President Richards is well informed about sports in general and he also showed a lot of interest about the participation of his country in the Central American and Caribbean Games next year in Puerto Rico," Marte Hoffiz said.

Marte Hoffiz was in the company of Mr. Michael Romany, new President of the Trinidad & Tobago Olympic Committee, past president Mr. Douglas Camacho, and OC Vice President Mr. Mushtaque Mohammed.
