DRESDNER SC και Αsterix KIELDRECHT για τον τιτλο !!!!

The Belgians of Asterix KIELDRECHT caused a real major upset this afternoon in the Margon Arena as they sailed to the final match of the 2009/2010 GM Capital Challenge Cup after defeating the pre-favorites of Galatasaray ISTANBUL in a crazy five setter. Back in a final four of the European Cups after nine years, the Belgians profited of the great performance displayed on court by Freya Aelbrecht who topped the charts of the best scorers with 20 points. Anja van Damme and Sarah Smits gave also a precious contribution to the final outcome of the game squeezing in with 19 and 14 points respectively.
On the other hand, the girls of Galatasaray did not perform at their best, with Serbian superstar Ivana Djerisilo committing a flurry of mistakes in the tie-break to pave the way for the Belgian success. The former fiancée of swimmer and World champion Milorad Cavic bagged a total of 29 points for her team but that was not enough to make it to the final.
In the second semifinal, the local heroines of DRESDNER SC delighted the home crowd as they totally outclassed the Poles of Impel Gwardia WROCLAW in three straight sets. Saskia Hippe scored 16 points for DRESDNER SC and tomorrow - together with experienced libero Kerstin Tzscherlich - will try to extend the positive streak of her team to finally pick up the trophy.
