The national teams of Greece and Austria are giving their last “rendez-vous” for the 2010 CEV European League in Glyfada’s “Makis Liougas” sports hall. Both teams are saying goodbye to the competition, since they won’t be present at the final four in Spain, but still they want to leave the competition on a high note.
The matches scheduled on July 9-10 will be a good opportunity for the players of both teams to play in a stress-free way and hopefully provide great spectacle to the audience.
The hosting team has three changes from the games held last week in the same court, as Aspiotis and Koumentakis are with the junior team in Spain for the 3rd round of the 2010 CEV Junior European Championship. Midoudis and Karipidis return to the team in their place as libero Papadimitriou does to replace Stefanou.
As the head coach of Greece Gordon Mayforth stated: “Our goal in these last matches is to help our young players gain experience. We have been doing so for some time now. We obviously want to win, even if we can’t qualify for the final four. As soon as the games against Austria are finished the players will have the chance to work individually on their physical condition and we will return to the preparation on August for the home and away matches with Turkey, for the qualification to the 2011 CEV European Championship”.
