Στην Ιταλία αναμένεται να διεξαχθούν μεγάλα παιχνίδια μέχρι την ανάδειξη της πρωταθλήτριας ομάδας. Στην Ιταλία Τρεντίνο και Κούνεο αρχίζουν τις μάχες για τον τίτλο αφού ξεμπέρδεψαν με Μασεράτα και Τρεβίζο αντίστοιχα στην ημιτελική φάση (3-1 στις νίκες):
Πάρτε μια γεύση από αγώνα της ημιτελικής μάχης για να καταλάβετε τι πρόκειται να ακολουθήσει μέχρι την ανάδειξη της πρωταθλήτριας ομάδας στο κορυφαίο ίσως πρωτάθλημα του κόσμο.

Friendly games

Zinella Bologna: The three Argentine players Facundo Conte, Uriarte and Ocampo, Bologna is ready to play its first friendly games: The team will be in Massa Carrara on the 11th of September then it will face Cavriago (venue to be decided soon) on the 16th and two days later it will host Massa Carrara.

Bjelica back. The Wolves of S.Croce challenge Italian champs


Copra Piacenza: The first team to challenge the Italian champs will be the wolves of Santa Croce. The friendly game will take place on Thursday 27 at 5pm in the PalaBanca gym. Meanwhile, Bjelica has returned from his international duties. Sequeria will be back on Monday and Bravo next Friday.

Bernardi "good fitness and individual technique"


Pallavolo Padova: We are just over ten days away from the beginning of Padova's season and coach Bernardi shared a few words with us:

"We have a detailed program, precise and specific. At the beginning the preparation will not be the same for everyone as some have had more rest than others. Our first target is to work well during the pre-season preparation to get to a good fitness level and individual technique".

Fenili stays in Massa


Massa could certainly not face the coming season without a precious player like Riccardo Fenili. The solid classy captain extended his contract.

“I’ve never had any doubts – said Fenili about his contract renewal – I started something with Massa last year and, given the character I have, it was normal that I would want to stay here, to fight for my region in the Serie A”.

Three-year extension for sponsor Mikasa


The Verona team will wear the shirt signed Mikasa for the ninth consecutive season. Indeed, the prestigious brand signed a new three-year deal with the club.

He made it at international level too, taking part in the Olympic Games in Beijing. Paparoni is currently recovering from a shoulder injury.


“The injury was quite serious – said Alessandro – but the operation went very well and I am now working real hard to get back in shape as soon as possible. My target is to be able to work with the rest of the guys when we start preparing for the new season”.

'Giacomelli Arredamenti' (Giacomelli furniture) becomes sponsor in sport for the first time of its history, and to do so it chose the yellow and blu of Verona.

Roma choose Subiela as middleblocker


José Javier Subiela will be one of Roma's two starting middleblockers for the coming season. José had an excellent season with Santa Croce and he won the European Championships with Spain in 2007 under coach Anastasi's orders.

"I arrive in a big city that follows volleyball a lot - said Subiela - I believe the team put together is better than the one that knocked us out of the playoffs last season".

Coach Montagnani: "We will enjoy ourselves in the league"


The Taranto coach, Paolo Montagnani, is satisfied with the summer moves the team made on the market: "I think ours is one of the club that made the better moves so far. We can be satisfied. We did fine with the budget we had and most importantly we signed the players we wanted, we didn't have to go for second choices. We will soon complete the starting six with a 4 and 2 middleblockers. We will aim on motivated players with a long career ahead of them rather than on demanding and expensive athletes".

Setter Groppi arrives from California


Michele Groppi will be Verona's second setter for the upcoming season. Born in 1986 in Genova, he came up in Modena before flying to the states to play four years in University in California.

"When I passed my A-levels, I moved to California, to the university of Stanford - explained Groppi - I had this great opportunity to get a grant thanks to volleyball. That is how I visited many places, be that for my studies or my volleyball games. I went to Israel, China, South America, Canada, it's been a great experience, a very important one. I've always followed the Italian league and I'm thrilled to have been called by Verona".

Coach Lorenzo Bernardi excited by new challenge


Padova's new coach has been officially unveiled today. As a player, he won tons of trophies during his record 24 years in the Serie A. An icon in Italian volleyball, he was the one to score the point that handed Italy its first world title against Cuba. In the league and cup, he scored a staggering 8.607 points. He will now face a new challenge.

"I am happy to be here because me and this club have a lot in common - said Bernardi - The targets of the city are the same as mine. We will do our best to put together a competitive team to enjoy a good season".

Loris Mani in Modena


Trenkwalder Modena: After two seasons played at the highest level in Montichiari, Loris Mani decided to sign for Modena. Loris helped the club to 7th place in 2007-08 and 6th place this season. During his spell at the club, Loris also made it to the national team, making his debut on the 11th of November 2007.

Nacci is Montagnani's assistant


Stamplast Taranto: Vincenzo Nacci has been appointed Taranto's assistant coach. Born in the same region, in Ostuni, Vincenzo started off in the youth department of his hometown before moving to Taranto in 2001-02. He also worked in feminine volleyball with Ostuni and San Pietro Vernotico. He came back to men's volley in 2005 with Corigliano, where he was in charge of the youth department and was then named Giuliani's assistant. Last year, his experience as head coach, still in Corigliano, did not last long as the club faced great financial difficulties and couldn't take part in the championship.

"I can't deny that I am proud to have been called to work with Taranto" said Montagnani's new assistant.

Under 13 beat Treviso for Regional title

Antonveneta Padova: Coach Antonio Casarin defined it “the most unexpected victory but the greatest of all as coach too”. They realized indeed an unbelievable achievement, beating Treviso with a team put together only last September. It finished on a 3-1 score (23-25; 25-17; 18-25; 17-25). “I am extremely happy because this is the right reward at the end of a beautiful season" added the coach. The main players that made the difference were Zoppellari and Bassanello.
