CEV Executive Commitee Meeting held in Nicosia

CEV Executive Committee

Luxembourg, 12^th December 2007. The CEV Executive Committee was in Nicosia (CYP) for two days for its last meeting of the year.

With their meeting organized in the brand new building home to the Olympic Committee of Cyprus, the Executive Committee members were very pleased with the warm welcome they received from the Cyprus Volleyball Federation and its President, Mr. Andreas STAVROU.

This meeting was the occasion to discuss the following different points:

- Final reports of the last Senior European Championships in Russia and Belgium & Luxembourg. The Executive Committee also adopted a series of measures to implement to further improve the quality of these European top events

- Drawing of Lots for the European Qualifications Tournaments for the 2008 Olympic Games, in Halle (GER) and Izmir (TUR)

- Report of the Veteran European Championships held for the first time in Europe in 2007

- Report of the Beach Volleyball Commission, whose new President, Mr. Renato ARENA, CEV Vice-President, declared being satisfied with the technical work of his commission and planed the organization of the 2008 Beach Volleyball calendar

- Approval of the administrative guideline and planning for the National Federations interested to apply for the 2010 Junior European Championships, 2011 Youth European Championships and 2011 European Championships

- Questionnaire to be forwarded to National Federation interested to take part in a possible future women’s European League, based on the men’s existing competition format and organization

- Confirmation of the administrative deadline fixed on 20th December 2007 for the organizers of the 2007/08 Indesit European Champions League Final Fours.

Finally, the Executive Committee analyzed the administrative work and actual structure of the CEV Head Office, in the way to implement a more efficient structure, with proposals to be defined by the CEV President and Executive Committee members and to be presented for approval by the CEV Board of Administration during its next meeting in Prague (CZE) in January 2008.
