Serbia’s girls topped the final standings of the BVA Youth Championship that were held this past week at the “Asllan Rusi” sports hall in Tirana at the end of a round robin tournament starring a total of 6 national teams. Serbia did so with an impeccable record of five consecutive wins and was joined on the podium by Bulgaria and Romania.
The Balkan Junior Championship – Men was held this past week as well to be completed on Sunday in the city of Kruševo, F.Y.R. of Macedonia. The competition – sponsored by BVA partner Halkbank – was also won by Serbia that in the final game edged Bulgaria 3:1 (28-26, 21-25, 27-25, 25-20). Montenegro claimed bronze with a straight-set win (26-24, 25-19, and 25-19) over Turkey.
