Tel Aviv is ready for the U20 Beach Volleyball Championship

The official press conference was held today in the presence of the mayor of Tel Aviv, the President of the Israeli Volleyball Association and the National Beach Volleyball coach from Israel to open the Championship, which will start with the first matches on Wednesday at Gordon Beach. During the press conference for the 2011 CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championship Mr. Ron Huldai, Mayor of Tel Aviv, recommended to all foreign players: "Go out and get to know Tel Aviv at night. It is the world's best city to spend time. Do not be so hard and tough with yourselves and allow yourselves the fun and enjoy the city."
The Israeli Volleyball Association in cooperation with the municipality and the company "ATARIM" built up a complex of six volleyball courts with a Centre Court for 1000 spectators. Additionally a Beach Volleyball “Mini Land” was established, where children can experience the sport.

Mr. Ron Huldai emphasized the fact that the Tel Aviv municipality considers sport as an important goal and said: "There is no more appropriate city to host an event like this. Recently the FIVB President visited Tel Aviv and we asked him to host a tournament of the World Tour."

The President of the Israeli Volleyball Association, Mr. Jacob Shtofman, said to his in national team players: "All we did here, is to give you a suitable platform for success and I hope you will stand with the mission. Israeli Olympic Committee has a drawer full of plans for Beach Volleyball and I hope your success will make them go back and open this drawer.“


Mr. Jacob Shtofman reported: "The Volleyball Association of Israel, together with their partners did everything possible to organize a Championship at the highest level and I hope that all our guests from abroad will enjoy the facilities we have built up."

The Israeli Coach, Mr. Shaked Haimi, surveyed the state of pairs of Israelis and said: "Our guys worked very hard since April, and held two training sessions a day and just ate sand. They had to undergo a kind of apprenticeship to learn the game, and everyone did it bravely. The draw will be very important for us. I certainly expect our teams to go through the group stage and finish between 13th-16th place, but I also believe that we can reach higher goals."
