France, Serbia, Argentina and China join the top-eight group

France, Serbia, Argentina and China completed the list of the eight teams to participate in the battle for the medals’ round of the 2011 FIVB Boy’s Youth Volleyball World Championship to be held in Bahia Blanca from August 23-28. They joined the squads of Greece, Bulgaria, Spain and Cuba who had qualified one day earlier.
In Sunday’s morning session, France advanced via a five-set victory over six-time champions Brazil 14-25, 25-20, 9-25, 25-22, 15-12, while Serbia scored a 21-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-21 victory over Spain to edge Iran by a better sets ratio (7-4 to 6-4) in Pool D. In Pool A, hosts Argentina downed United States in consecutive frames 25-20, 25-19, 28-26 while in Pool B China edged Russia 25-22, 17-25, 18-25, 25-20, 15-13 to clinch second place of Pool B.
In other matches on Sunday, the already qualified Greece and Cuba defeated Tunisia and Korea respectively. In a contest between teams out of the competition for the medals Iran defeated Puerto Rico and Egypt defeated the qualified Bulgaria.

Second round pools composition is as follows:
Positions 1-8
Pool E: Argentina, China, Cuba and Serbia. Pool F: Greece, Bulgaria, Spain and France.
Positions 9-16
Pool G: Egypt, Tunisia, Brazil and Puerto Rico. Pool H: Russia, United States, Iran and Korea
